Who says you can’t have an adventure and travel in style? Last weekend we were invited to an amazing wedding up in the Peak District. Our plan was to take advantage of the location the day after the wedding. So we ended up pitching our tent in full suit and dress between the ceremony and the reception. We definitely received some funny looks as we were walking up the steep muddy hill on the campsite, carrying our kit and trying not to get our shoes too muddy.

So does this count as glamping? Maddie and I putting up the tent.

Beautiful fields in the Peak District.

We slept in for a little bit and as it was still raining in the morning I don’t think we missed out much. After packing up the tent we headed over to Monsal Head for some trail running and hiking. We’re less than 2 weeks away from the Lakes Sky Ultra, so for me this was the last day of proper uphill training. I just started running, following my nose, and turned onto a new trail whenever I felt like turning. I love it when you don’t have a particular place to go to or a strict schedule you have to stick to and you can just go out and explore.

At some point I found a really steep slope up to Monsal Head, passing some pretty interesting cliffs. From the top I returned back to the cafe along a very very overgrown path. With scratched legs and burning nettle stings I sat down for a quick power bar before heading back out for another loop. Soon after I bumped into Janneke and Maddie, who had been taking it a bit easier today.

Back at the cafe we treated ourselves to scones before heading back to London.
